Flash 55 Friday...

I can't explain why,
towers of metal and glass
quicken my pulse
Most people are repulsed by crowds
but your hub of everyday bodies
and machines acts like blood
flowing through my veins.
Bright lights, restaurant smells,
and culture abound.
A million idiosyncrasies to discover
in a weekend's time,
only leaves me longing for more.......

My husband and I along with our besties are headed to the Twin Cities for the weekend. The last time we went any where without children I was six months pregnant with our second child so I guess we still had children along. I love cities and to me the Twin Cities holds the best of both worlds. Big city life with midwest charm. My husband and I will celebrate 17 years of marriage on Saturday October 2nd. and he will be humoring me in the city because he wants a log cabin on 40 acres in the middle of nowhere. Our road has not been a smooth one, a great deal of that do to my dealing, but for some reason he's still here. For that I am grateful. When we had Alex's birthday party last month, we were all sitting around having coffee and laughing when I looked up and caught my husband staring at me. He had a soft smile on his lips and I'm not sure what he was thinking, but we've made it this far, so I think we can both hang around to see what the next years will bring. Wishing you all a beautiful autumn weekend.....

  1. congrats on teh that tender moment you shared of catching him looking at you...have fun on your trip!

  2. Congratulations on your 17th anniversary...

I, too, love the city. It's a whole different vibe, isn't it? Living in the suburbs I don't get to the city much anymore but when I do, I'm like a tourist! LOL!

  3. so are cities!
Great post and good celebraetion... congrats!

  4. Happy anniversary! I get the same feelings you described every time i visit NYC. I love everything about it that most people hate. The crowds, the horns and sirens, the constant hubbub are all exciting to me. And it really is true, you can get anything you want, all at a quarter to three.

  5. I'm with you girl - I love the big city. I love the country too but I always go back for more of the lights and the noise.
looks like we could have girls weekend out to a big city.

Enjoy that 17th milestone and still strong

    Moon Hugs

  6. Happy anniversary! What a beautiful post. i love the look you caught him sending your way. He loves you so much as does mine, inspite of what we have put them through. We will celebrate our 15th anniversary next month. Have fun in the city, but I am with your husband - give me a cabin in the woods over the city anyday! Sending hugs your way....:)

  7. Happy Anniversary. I often see my wife staring at me. And I look at her when she isn't looking marveling at her beauty. Hey, a cabin on 40 acres in the middle of no where sounds great to me. I live on 7 acres in the country and love it.
